The reason your Google Business Profile gets clicks but nobody calls is usually a conversion problem caused by Google’s removal of the desktop “Call” button and/or a lack of having the Schedule” button added. Also, weak trust signals compared to your top 3 ranking competitors.

However, there is 1 exception, so let’s get that out of the way first.

Implementing The “Schedule” Button

Right out of the gate, you should know that Google has officially removed the “Call” button from the “local pack” (the top 3 organic GBP results). But fortunately, the “Schedule” button remains in the local pack.

Potential customers can still technically find a “Call” button on your business profile, but they have to manually click to open the profile in order to see that option.

If people have to manually click on your GBP, then your website link, and find the booking option, this hurts your conversion rate. Having a one-click option makes the process easier and thus increases conversion.

As of 2026, Google officially removed the “Call” button from the local pack.

If you rank in the top 3 for a specific keyphrase like “plumbers in Ohio”. There is no direct “Call” button unless they click into your business profile. So make sure your “Schedule” button shows.

Make sure you have added the “Book online” or “Schedule” button to your GBP.

As you can see from the screenshots above, having that “Schedule” button is more important than ever since it distinguishes your profile. Only 30% of business profiles have this option enabled.

Increasing Your GBP Conversion Rate

If you have clicks but low conversions, that means your GBP (Google Business Profile) signals lower trust or relevance than your competitors.

Why: Pretend you’re a potential customer looking for your exact product or service. What trust signals would you look for before making a choice? Would you give your money to a business that isn’t active, has generic reviews, no update posts, and dead social accounts?

Solution: Make your profile more relevant with more photos, videos, and detailed reviews that are descriptive. Respond to all your reviews. Make sure you have no empty fields on your profile and all social links show activity, not just to Google but to potential customers as well.

Implementation: Manually count the photos you have and assess not just the count, but the quality, relevance, and compare it to your competitors. Do the same with your reviews. Are your reviews detailed or generic?

Google now displays social media snippets (like your latest Instagram post) directly on your Business Profile. If your last social post was from 2022, it could signal to a customer that you might be out of business.
